First Edition Artist Proof of Jerry Garcia’s “Figaro” from original print run of stone plate-signed image. (A stone plate signature on artwork is when an artist signs their name into a stone or plate, which is then used to print the signature onto each copy of the artwork. This is different from hand-signing, where the artist signs each print individually).
Referred to as a lifetime print, this Artist Proof was cut from the original sheets of artist-proofs, straight off the original printing plate created during Jerry's lifetime. Jerry personally supervised and approved the final proofs before he would allow the printing of this image. After the only print run of 100, the plate was destroyed.
Published by DB Artworks, (Jerry’s publisher, owned by Vince, Gloria, and brother, David DiBiase, and half owned by Jerry Garcia), this plate-signed proof is in its pure unadulterated state, meeting the high standards Jerry demanded for his published artwork.
